During Otis' memorial, Patricia begs Shane to say a few words and give some meaning to his passing. Looking out of place with his newly shaved head and wearing the dead man's clothes, Shane struggles with the words as he remembers his horrible choice and the truth of Otis' murder. "If any death ever had meaning, it was his." Shane has turned a corner since sacrificing Otis, where it leads should be interesting to say the least.
Daryl, Dale, Andrea and Carol have brought the caravan to the Green farm and set up camp. Once the meet and greets are over they begin to map out a grid to search for Sophia. Naturally, Rick wants in but Hershel points out his massive blood loss and nixes that. Shane is still hobbled with a bad ankle so Daryl remains on point in the search. Hersehl is also less than thrilled at the survivors setting up a firing range on his property. He then cuts to the chase and suggests that after finding Sophia, the grouop should all just move along.
Rick is initially hesitant but understanding and abides by Hershel's gun restrictions with Dale, as the lookout, the only exception. Confronted again with the future of this merry band, Rick goes into Deep Thought mode and begins executing the mental gymnastics required for a plan. Maggie shows T-Dog and Dale a well to replenish their water with but it seems to have developed a zombie problem since anyone last checked.
Maggie plans a supply run into town with Glenn. But first he is approached by Lori with a surreptitious request that he agrees to. Meanwhile the others gather to address the tainted zombie well and agree that someone needs to go down and snare the zombie so they can haul it out. Sucks to be a slim Asian dude in this case. Drama ensues but it's kind of funny to watch so many people struggle with a guy who can't weigh more than a buck fifty soaking wet. But he gets it done, our weekly zombie grossness quotient is met and he rides off with Maggie into town.
At the pharmacy with a helpful "Take What You Need" sign in front, the pair gather anything useful and when Glenn is caught doing Lori's favor, he lies to Maggie and the ensuing misunderstanding gets him laid. Nice. Playing hero in the zombie well adventure probably didn't hurt either. Riding back into the farm with an ear-to-ear grin, Maggie quickly douses the post-coital flame with the dismissive and always deflating "It was a one-time thing."
Daryl finds clues to somebody hiding in a house in the woods but can't confirm it's Sophia. He's taken with a flower in the yard and gives it the 1000 yard stare treatment. He says nothing about what he's found to Carol but explains the story behind the flower, a Cherokee Rose, and Carol seems to accept it in the spirit given. Cautious but hopeful.
Rick and Carl square away some business with each other that leads to a symbolic changing of the guard. Carl is wearing Rick's hat and Rick has placed his badge and uniform away in a drawer. It may be far sooner than either had hoped but Carl is preparing for manhood right now.Lori receives the pregnancy test she asked Glenn and after a walk out into the woods, we find out it's positive. The question is how far along is she? This could get awkward.
